Sisters In Sanity by Gayle Forman

Today's book is Sisters In Sanity by Gayle Forman! The description of this book is:

"Where are they taking me?"

"It's for your own good, Brit," Dad said.

I was shoved into a small, stuffy room, and the door was locked behind me.

I waited for my dad to realize he'd made a terrible mistake and come get me.

But he didn't.

FOR SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Brit Hemphill, it's hard to know who she can trust. Convinced she's out of control, her father has sentenced her to Red Rock: a center for supposedly rebellious teens, where the therapy consists of name-calling and the girls who get privileges are the ones who rat out their peers.

But then Brit meets V, Bebe, Martha, and Cassie—four girls who keep her from going over the edge. Together, they'll hold on to their sanity and their sisterhood despite the bleak Red Rock reality.

So, I thought this book sounded really intense but sweet at the same time. After finishing, I loved it! Gayle Forman is such a good writer! She has a way of making you feel what her characters feel and making the story that much more intense. This was a really cool story. The way the girls in this book form their friendship despite their extreme differences is sweet. I also love how V helps everyone break the rules to have a little fun while they're stuck in Red Rock. There's even a little love story going on! Jed sounds like such a sweetheart and I love his and Brit's little firefly thing they've got going on. So cute! (Sorry, I'm a sucker for sweet and romantic guys. Even if they are fictional.) Anyway, This book was a great read, I definitely recommend it! Hope you guys enjoy :)

  2. Hello again Tricia, my car is in the shop and I can't make it to the library, so I was wondering what you thought of Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen? I was thinking of letting my daughter read it since you recomended it, but I wanted to know if you liked it and what it's really about?

  3. Mrs. Tapes,
Keeping the Moon would be perfect for your daughter! Keeping the Moon is such a great book. I think it's really appropriate for your daughters age also. Keeping the Moon is all about a girl named Colie, who goes to live with her cooky Aunt Mira for the summer. Colie has pretty low self esteem because she used to be fat, and kids at her school made fun of her for stupid reasons. She never really had any friends until she moves in with her Aunt Mira, where she meets two new girls that teach her who she really is. It's all about Colie's journey of finding herself and finally seeing herself as a good person. This book has such a good message, I definitely think your daughter should read it! :)
