Sticky Fingers by Niki Burnham

Hey everyone! Today's book is Sticky Fingers by Niki Burnham. The description of this book is:

Bulletproof, that's how Jenna Kassarian sees herself. It's all about control: As long as she works hard, nothing can hurt her. So Jenna constantly pushes — for perfect grades, the ideal boyfriend, the best, best friend.

The only problem is, she doesn't know if she can stop. If she relaxes even for a second, she's afraid she'll lose control completely.

Then Jenna decides it's now or never. She goes to a party and has one drink. But one drink is all it takes for her perfect facade to shatter. Suddenly she realizes straight A's can't protect you in the real world.

I thought this book was really good! This book is a fun high school story (for the most part). It's a story of learning who to trust and knowing what you need to do to reach your goals. I'm not too sure what else to say about this book either, haha. I thought it was really well written, and even though I had some idea of what was going to happen at some point in the book, there definitely was a twist that I didn't see coming. So, if it sounds good to you, go check it out! It's worth a try. Hope you guys enjoy :)

  1. Um, this seems a bit old for my daughter, but I thought I'd maybe like to read it. Also, I was wondering if Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen might be good for her and what your thoughts on the book were?

    Very Truly,

  2. Mrs. Tapes,
Yes, I do think this one is a little advanced for your daughter. Someone Like You was very good, but it does have to do with sex. In the book, the main characters friend, Scarlett, gets pregnant. Then Halley (the main character) gets a boyfriend and he starts pressuring her to have sex with him. It's not overwhelming in the book, but it is there, so if you don't want your daughter reading that, then I wouldn't say it's the best choice. But, besides all of that, I thought the book was VERY good. All books by Sarah Dessen are wonderful in my eyes. Hope I helped!

  3. Oh wonderful! I think I'll read it first and see how appropriate it is for her, it sounds very intriguing. Thank you so much for you help! She finished Keeping the Moon last night and is still going on about it, she absolutely loved it. Thank ever so much for your help! Oh and i heard that Dreamland by Sarah Dessen was good but a little out there, what did you think?

    Truly appreciative,

  4. Mrs. Tapes,
You're very welcome! I'm really glad she loved the book! I LOVED Dreamland. Before I read The Truth About Forever, it was my favorite book of Sarah's. It's about a girl who's boyfriend abuses her, but the way Sarah writes it makes it not overwhelming. Usually, books like those are really depressing and serious, but Sarah makes it serious and amazing at the same time. It's definitely worth a read.
